To be a member of London's vampire community, one must carry a Sigil.
Without a Sigil, a kindred is not protected by the Law. She may be attacked and
killed with impunity. Only the seven Councilors have the power to dispense Sigils. The Councilors are therefore immensely powerful; they hold (limited) power of life and death over every vampire in London. Each of the Seven has chosen a symbol for their Sigil. Every vampire in London who hopes to see the next night, must carry his Sigil everywhere:
