GothCode98 has now been officially deprecated by its creator Peter Caffin. He is of the opinion that the GothCode is an anacronism in these days of personal web-pages and graphical user interfaces.

Well, I think he's wrong. I revel in anacronism. I revere the silliness of the GothCode. Saying that the GothCode is no longer useful suggests that it was useful once. And it wasn't. It was only ever a stupid piece of fun.

The fact that Peter Caffin is trying to get GCencoders off the internet, suggests to me that he's taking his creation a little bit too seriously.
